In April 2018, Dixie, Jérôme and Michel undertook a ski-pulk expedition to reach the North Pole across the pack ice. In practice, this meant covering the distance to the pole from one degree of latitude away, or 111 kilometres, commonly known as the "last degree." Organised by Expeditions Unlimited, Tamera's sister activity and a recognised specialist in self-sufficient polar expeditions, this adventure was both a physical challenge and a human experience in an extraordinary Arctic setting.
This was the third North Pole expedition organised by Expeditions Unlimited since 2015. In 2018, this polar momentum was also marked by the west-to-east crossing of Greenland, over 500 kilometres, completed by five entrepreneurs alongside Bernard Muller. These projects reflected a busy period for Expeditions Unlimited, whose offerings also cover high altitude, including peaks above 7,000 metres, as well as rare expeditions, some approaching world firsts.
The film devoted to this expedition follows Dixie, Jérôme and Michel's adventures across the pack ice. It is punctuated with insights from Dixie Dansercoer, one of the world's finest polar guides, making it a particularly instructive record of what the pack ice looks like at the end of winter, near the North Pole.
Between physical challenge, human adventure and full immersion in the Arctic, this expedition remains a landmark moment in Expeditions Unlimited's polar history.
