Dixie Dansercoer led many polar expeditions, including several world firsts, to Spitsbergen, Antarctica and Greenland, through Expeditions Unlimited and its polar expeditions and extreme adventure travel. Beyond the environments crossed and the resources deployed, these expeditions into untouched regions also gave a handful of participants the chance to share the intimacy of one of the world's foremost experts on the polar regions.
Dixie Dansercoer, one of the greatest polar explorers
Belgian and a specialist in the polar regions, Dixie Dansercoer led numerous expeditions. He belonged to the very exclusive club of the five polar master guides. Dixie achieved many world firsts, including, with Sam Deltour, the world record for the longest expedition in Antarctica without resupply and without motorised assistance: 74 days on the ice and a distance of 5,013 km. Co-founder of Expeditions Unlimited, sister brand of Tamera, Dixie could design any ambitious expedition in the Arctic, Antarctica, Greenland and Spitsbergen.
North and South Poles with Dixie and Expeditions Unlimited
With Dixie and Expeditions Unlimited, both poles became a genuine possibility for those prepared to commit to them. The costs matched the scale of the undertaking, justified by the Russian logistical resources deployed, which at the time held a near-monopoly on this type of expedition.
His legacy lives on today through the guides trained at his side, who continue to lead expeditions to those same untouched polar regions.
