This season, we are shining a light on three of the most committed expeditions around the Arctic rim: the crossing of Greenland from west to east, that is 550 km across the ice sheet; the Northwest Passage, 400 km over the sea ice of the Canadian Arctic, in the wake of Amundsen; and the full crossing of Spitsbergen, from south to north, 600 km between 76° and 80° of north latitude.

Each winter, the fjords of northern Norway become the setting for one of the greatest spectacles on the planet: shoals of herring in their millions, and behind them the resident orcas and humpback whales that come to feast. From our traditional Norwegian sailing vessel, we take small groups of 6, on just 3 departures between November and December, as close as possible to the most fascinating animals of the marine world. Major polar expeditions and summits above 7000 or 8000 meters represent two of the most ambitious challenges on the planet. While these worlds share the same taste for commitment, autonomy and exploration, they are based on very different logics. Between the ascent of a very high summit and a great polar traverse, how do you know which adventure suits you best ? Discover the common points, the differences and the progression paths that allow you to reach these exceptional objectives.

In the icy waters of Disko Bay, on the west coast of Greenland, icebergs drift slowly beneath the midnight sun, while humpback whales make their way up the fjords to feed. It is in this exceptional polar environment that we invite you to embark on an itinerant sea kayaking expedition, in the heart of one of Greenland’s most spectacular regions. In a small group of only 6 participants, we paddle silently among the giant ice formations calved from the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier, with a constant spirit of exploration. Each day combines sea kayaking among monumental icebergs, whale watching, wild camps on the tundra and hiking. This adventure favours a respectful approach to wildlife and a genuine immersion in the vast Arctic wilderness. Kayaking allows us to move quietly and get close to cetaceans in truly unique observation conditions, while experiencing an intense and authentic expedition. Depending on conditions, we may also have the opportunity to fish for cod directly from the kayaks, before preparing and sharing it in the evening at camp, facing the drifting icebergs.

If you have previous experience of high-altitude mountaineering and are considering a very high-altitude expedition, now is the time to sign up. Expeditions Unlimited has confirmed three major expeditions to Nepal in autumn 2026, targeting iconic Himalayan peaks: Ama Dablam (6,812 m), Himlung Himal (7,126 m) and Manaslu (8,163 m). Three distinct objectives, ranging from technical development to major Himalayan expeditions, led by experienced guides. These projects represent magnificent goals in their own right, or form part of a structured progression towards reaching even greater heights. They combine ambition, safety and real-world experience in the field. Places are limited and the dates for our preparation weekends with our expedition leaders have already been set.
